[What is bellydance?]
Bellydance is a dance form originated in Middle East/ North Africa. In these countries, Oriental dance= Raqs Sharqi(a.k.a bellydance in Western countries) is often performed for weddings and celebrations of local people as well as it is a popular tourist attraction at nightclubs and restaurants.
These days bellydance is a popular acitvity practiced by people all over the world.
El Yasmine Bellydance School encourages and train students to study bellydance as a cultural dance. It is important to know about the cultural backgroud of the dance and pay respect to the culture where the dance form originally came from. We believe that bellydance is not just about movements, not just about rhythms, not just about costumes.
