Yurie is a professional bellydancer, an experienced Middle Eastern dance instructor and choreographer based in Christchurch, New Zealand. 

Yurie started studying Middle Eastern dance with Gendi (Founder of The School of Contemporary Belly Dance) in Christchurch in 1998.  

She started her teaching career at The School of Contemporary Bellydance as a Saidi teacher in 2002. In 2005, Yuire helped to incoorporate the school as NPO, then served as a Manager of the school until August 2006.  She Left the school in Sept 2009 and established her own Middle Eastern dance school "El Yasmine Bellydance School".

Yurie spacialises in Oriental dance and Middle Eastern folkloric dance. She teaches and performs various folkloric dance styles; Saidi, Ghawazee, Nubian, Alexandrian, Hagallah, Khaleegy, Algerian Rai, and Tunisian, as well as classical and modern Oriental dance.

She continues her study by attending International / master teachers workshops in NZ and overseas. She studied with Cassandra Shore, Shareen El Safy, Hadia, Denise Enan, Amel Tafsout, Amera (Sydney), Caroline of Cairo, Karen Gehrman(Fat Chance Belly Dance), Mohamed Kazafy, and Randa Kamel.

Yurie is a trained and qualified adult education tutor who holds NZ National Certificate in Adult Education and Training.

As well as teaching bellydance, she works as a professional belly dancer  performing for parties and events. Her perfromance style is graceful, elegant, and friendly with fun interaction with audience.
